Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a visionary, French Jesuit, paleontologist, biologist, and philosopher who spent the bulk of his life integrating religious experience with natural science, most specifically Christian theology and theories of evolution. He was taken with the idea that mankind was heading for a convergence of systems, an “Omega point” where the coalescence of consciousness would lead to a new state of peace and planetary unity. Long before ecology was fashionable, he saw this unity being intrinsically based upon the spirit of the Earth.
He saw the Earth like an organism in its own right and suggested that its evolutionary unfoldment was leading towards its growing a new organ of consciousness he called the noosphere.

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
We have only to believe. And the more threatening and irreducible reality appears, the more firmly and desperately we must believe. Then, little by little, we shall see the universal horror unbend, and then smile upon us, and then take us in its more than human arms.
Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.
The whole of life lies in the verb "seeing." The prerequisite to seeing is seeking.
Truth has to appear only once in a single mind, for it to be impossible ever to prevent it from spreading universally and setting everything ablaze.
